EDUCAMARES is an educational project for the dissemination of marine Natura 2000 areas to secondary and high school students, so we place value on its importance as a useful way to achieve conservation of marine biodiversity.

In this sense, we have developed a series of educational materials that reinforce the content that will be worked on in the project. Aspects such as the operation of the marine Natura 2000 network and the efforts made to improve the available knowledge about these protected areas are discussed, highlighting the importance of the LIFE IP INTEMARES project and working on some of the habitats and species that can be found in the Spanish marine environment, or on some of the threats that the marine environment faces.

The material produced consists of six educational dossiers: three aimed at students, with exercises, and three at teachers, with a theory section and the solution for the exercises. These dossiers are designed to facilitate the work of the project in class and focused on secondary education centers, having adapted the materials to three different educational levels: first cycle of secondary school, the second cycle of secondary school and high school.

Throughout the month of January, we will start visiting high schools and sharing the elaborated dossiers with them. The participating high schools are from different coastal provinces throughout the whole Spanish coastline.

The EDUCAMARES project has the support of the Fundación Biodiversidad, from the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
