Submón / Marine Environmental Platform is an Association & SME that provides environmental services for the conservation, study and awareness of the marine environment, offering a comprehensive service in the development of projects related to the conservation and management of the marine environment. SUBMON is made up of a multidisciplinary team of specialists and professionals, including biologists, veterinarians, engineers, divers and teachers with 10 to 20 years’ experience working in the marine environment worldwide, adapting well to different cultural settings and working conditions.

We are a specialized marine conservation organisation in involving key stakeholders and end-users in relation to seas & oceans and their biodiversity management and conservation (marine stewardship). We hold the first marine stewardship agreements in the north-western Mediterranean with municipalities and stakeholders (local fishing companies, sailing and diving clubs). Through our European expertise and partnership with organisations alike we can open our role to EU Member States.

We envision our role within the Horizon 2020 concept of ‘multi-actor approach’ as foreseen in the Horizon 2020 Regulation aiming at more demand-driven innovation through the genuine and sufficient involvement of various actors (end-users in the marine environment such as fishing business, sailing & diving clubs, marine transportation companies, tourism sector, local sea-side communities & schools, municipalities, responsible governments & institutions) all along the project: from the participation in the planning of work and experiments, their execution up until the dissemination of results and the possible demonstration phase.

We offer to share expertise on marine stewardship and stakeholder involvement in conservation with top research organisations throughout Europe and the Mediterranean Region.
