After an uncertain year, in which it has been difficult to organize visits and face-to-face activities in educational centers, we have been able to start the activities planned within the “Som platja” project.

The first of these activities consists of visiting the participating high schools to make the initial talk of the project. This talk is focused on, first, explaining to the students what the project is about, and which actions have been planned within it and, second, training them on different aspects related to the coastline and the problems that marine litter cause. Also, during these first visits, a small training dossier will be distributed to the participating high schools, bringing additional information about those subjects.

The five educational centers that participate in the project are located at different municipalities of the three coastal Catalan provinces:

– Lluís Domènech i Montaner high school (Canet de Mar).

– Baix Empordà high school (Palafrugell).

– Dolors Mallafrè i Ros high school (Vilanova i la Geltrú).

– Santa María – Manyanet Blanes school (Blanes).

– Ramon Berenguer IV high school (Cambrils).

In addition, within the project we have developed a training manual on the coast and a protocol for sampling waste on the beach.
