Manel Gazo

Founding partner of SUBMON and director of the entity since its inception until November 2021.

Biologist, PhD in Animal Biology (UB) and Master in Aquaculture (UB) and Master in Direction and Management of Non-Governmental Organizations (ESADE).

Since 2009

he is Associate Professor at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences of the University of Barcelona, where he has been a member of the Large Marine Vertebrate Research Group since 1994.

His personal experience

has been developed around three main areas: coordination of conservation programs, studies in the framework of the protection of marine species and habitats and the direction and management of environmental entities.

He is in charge of

UNEP-RAC/SPA Action Plan for the monk seal (Monachus monachus) in countries with small populations, and regional coordinator of ACCOBAMS for the bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) in the North-Western Mediterranean.
